TCL has expanded its 2026 television lineup with the introduction of recent SQD Mini-LED models and the debut of its first RGB Mini-LED TV, the RM9L series. The company announced the update on April 20, 2026, positioning the RM9L as a significant advancement in display technology.
The RM9L series features RGB Precision dimming technology, which TCL describes as a full-chain breakthrough from the RGB chips directly to the screen. This approach significantly reduces industry-wide challenges like color cross-talk, delivering superior light and color performance compared to conventional RGB-Mini LED TVs.
Alongside the RM9L, TCL is rolling out the QM8L and QM7L series, which bring its SQD Mini-LED technology—previously seen in higher-end models like the X11L—into more accessible tiers. These models combine Mini-LED backlighting with a quantum dot layer to enhance color performance and brightness, forming a key part of TCL’s current LCD strategy.
The QM8L is positioned as the upper-tier model in this range, while the QM7L serves as a more accessible option, with both series available in multiple screen sizes. TCL continues to emphasize local dimming performance, featuring high-zone-count backlight control, multi-thousand-nit peak brightness, and support for major HDR formats including Dolby Vision.
The RM9L’s architecture uses narrow-band RGB LEDs at the backlight level, paired with a CSOT WHVA 2.0 panel designed for high native contrast and wider viewing angles. It also includes a ZeroBorder design, an anti-reflection layer, and what TCL calls Super RGB colour control with precise calibration.
This launch reflects TCL’s ongoing effort to push display innovation forward, particularly in the competitive premium TV market where brightness, color accuracy, and contrast remain key differentiators.
