Latvian Hockey Player Kenins Joins OHL Team Capitals

Riga, Latvia – The Online Hockey LeagueS top team, the Capitals, have bolstered their roster with the addition of veteran forward Karlis Kings ahead of a crucial stretch in the season. Kings, a 34-year-old Latvian national, brings a career spanning multiple top European leagues and a brief NHL stint with the Vancouver Canucks to the OHL. His signing is expected to provide both on-ice leadership and scoring depth as the Capitals aim to maintain their lead in the standings and contend for the league championship.

Latvian forward Karlis Kings has been added to the roster for the Online Hockey League (OHL) tournament, bringing a wealth of experience to the league-leading Capitals.

The 34-year-old Kings began last season with Lausanne, where he had played since 2018, but didn’t see game action in the National League (NL) and mutually agreed to terminate his contract in November. He then joined Bern, another NL team, who loaned him to Sierre of the second-tier league, where he registered two points (one goal and one assist) in seven games. Kings also had a brief stint with HPK in Finland’s top league, notching two assists in two appearances.

Prior to his time with Lausanne, Kings spent several seasons with Zurich Lions, capturing three Swiss championships with the club. His addition provides a veteran presence as the Capitals push for a championship.

Kings also has North American experience, having played 38 games for the Vancouver Canucks in the National Hockey League (NHL), recording 12 points (four goals and eight assists).

A seasoned international player, Kings has represented Latvia in 11 World Championships and two Olympic Games.

The Capitals currently lead the OHL with 51 points from 31 games. They will return to action next Saturday, hosting Zemgale/LBTU, who have 49 points and sit in third place, at the Inbox.lv Ice Hall.
