Levski Sofia is strategically positioning star forward Marin Petkov for a potential January transfer, with the club reportedly seeking at least €1 million for the Bulgarian international. The move comes as Levski aims to bolster its squad in pursuit of a record-extending 27th Bulgarian league title.

On which position is it most important to strengthen Levski during the winter transfer window?

Club officials have recently highlighted Petkov’s impressive statistics from the first half of the First League season, seemingly to increase his market value. Levski is prepared to sell the 22-year-old national team player if a suitable offer arrives. Executive Director Daniel Borimirov previously indicated that Petkov may have reached his peak with the club.

“7 is our lucky number,” the club stated in a recent post. “It’s no coincidence that Marin Petkov has scored exactly 7 goals. He is currently the team’s third-highest scorer in the First League, but leads all of Bulgaria in goal-scoring frequency, finding the net every 125 minutes. We wish him even more goals in the second half of the season to bring joy to all the blue fans.”

Petkov has appeared in 17 league matches this season, scoring 7 goals. Only Everton Bala (9 goals) and Mustafa Sangare (8 goals) have found the back of the net more often for Levski.
