Action star Jet Li recently addressed online speculation about his youthful appearance, shutting down rumors he underwent heart or blood transfusions during a recent livestream. The 62-year-old actor turned off beauty filters to demonstrate his current condition, stating, “Changing this and changing that is nothing compared to changing your mindset.”
Li, looking healthy with a fresh haircut and glasses, explained that opting for a heart transplant carries significant risks. “If my heart is okay, and I’m in good enough condition to get a new heart, the risk isn’t worth it. There’s also the risk of rejection,” he said.
Responding directly to the “blood transfusion” rumors, Li questioned the need for such drastic measures. “If it’s just to look younger, isn’t a facelift easier? Wouldn’t minor adjustments be better?” he asked.
The discussion followed a period of intense scrutiny regarding Li’s revitalized appearance. Earlier this year, fans noticed a significant change in his looks – appearing with dark hair and a vibrant energy – sparking the initial rumors of medical intervention. On November 9, the hashtag “Jet Li Debunks Heart Transplant” trended on Weibo.
Li has been actively sharing videos on his social media accounts in recent weeks, showcasing his energetic state and martial arts skills. This contrasted sharply with earlier reports of a more frail appearance, fueling the speculation. He previously addressed health concerns by posting a shirtless video demonstrating the absence of surgical scars, seemingly to refute the transplant claims.

The conversation around Li’s health began in August when he shared a post on social media referencing a “recent unexpected trial.” The post included a photo of him in a hospital bed and another of an operating room.
The following day, Li announced he was “back home,” thanking fans for their well wishes.
Hong Kong entertainment executive Charles Heung, a close friend of Li, later clarified that the actor had only undergone a minor procedure to remove a benign growth. “It was just a small tumor, benign. He had it removed and he’s fine! Thank you everyone for your concern,” Heung told the media.
More than ten days later, Li shared a video detailing his condition and the surgery. He explained that he discovered a lump on his neck during a self-examination on April 26th, his birthday. After a week of antibiotics proved ineffective, he underwent a series of tests – ultrasound, CT scan, and biopsy – which initially indicated a benign growth, but required further investigation. He ultimately decided to have surgery in August, and the subsequent biopsy confirmed it was entirely benign.
Li described the surgery as relatively minor, stating, “Medically speaking, it’s graded from 1 to 7, with the highest difficulty being 7. There are 28 levels, divided into A, B, C, and D for each level. The doctor said my surgery was a 5D, which is level 20.”
Concluding his statement, Li emphasized his humanity. “I’m just a regular person. Now that I’m okay, I want to get back to work. For me, you know, if the hardware has a problem, you have to deal with it. I’m okay with anything, even if it’s not okay. I’m a regular person, and if there’s a problem, we fix it.” The actor’s openness about his health has resonated with fans, highlighting the universal experience of aging and the importance of self-care.
