Chelsea has appointed Liam Rosenior as its new head coach. The 41-year-old Englishman replaces Enzo Maresca, who was dismissed on New Year’s Day, and has signed a contract through mid-2032.

Premier League Experience

Following his playing career with clubs including Fulham, Reading, and Hull City, Rosenior began his coaching journey as a youth trainer at Brighton & Hove Albion.

He held roles at Derby County, initially working under Phillip Cocu and Wayne Rooney, before taking on his first head coaching position as an interim manager. After nearly two seasons in charge at Hull City, Rosenior moved to Strasbourg.

Maresca, who led Chelsea to a Club World Cup title last summer, had the team off to a strong start in the league, but their form faltered in December.

Reports indicate that Maresca’s dismissal wasn’t due to sporting reasons, but rather a fractured relationship with the club’s board. He was reportedly in negotiations regarding a future with rival Manchester City.

Jorrel Hato is currently part of Chelsea’s squad, having been a rotational player under Maresca. Emmanuel Emegha will also join the ‘Blues’ this summer, currently playing for Strasbourg.
