Model Loiza is opening up about a painful experience from her youth, revealing a childhood assault and the remarkable resilience she demonstrated in it’s aftermath. The revelation comes as the Dutch personality navigates a recent public split, having ended her engagement to Jelle Ploeg earlier this month. In a forthcoming interview, Loiza details the incident – a physical attack by peers – and how she resolved to face her academic commitments despite her injuries, a story she links to her unwavering determination.

“The blows felt almost like a whip across my face.”

Loiza has navigated a challenging youth, but persevered through difficult times. She recently recounted a disturbing experience from her school days. “I was once assaulted in the village. It was quite tough then,” she began. Loiza was struck with branches by her peers. “The blows felt almost like a whip across my face.”

The model was deeply shaken by the incident. “I was very upset afterward.” The assault had a significant impact on her. “I ran home screaming,” Loiza explained. Upon arriving home, she fell into her mother’s arms, crying.

The following day, Loiza faced a school exam, but initially hesitated to attend due to her injuries. “I’ve always been very focused on my appearance, but I didn’t look presentable,” said the model, who had “streaks” on her face.

Loiza refused to be defeated and decided to take the exam regardless. She used her mother’s makeup to conceal the marks. “The next morning, I tried to cover it up with my mother’s powder.” She didn’t want others to see her injured face. “I was, of course, terribly ashamed that I didn’t look good.”

Loiza believes this past moment exemplifies her lifelong resilience. “I had to pass that test, so I had to push through,” Loiza said, visibly emotional. “And that’s also why I view the world the way I do. We have to keep going, because we can’t stand still.”

Loiza’s year has begun with personal challenges. In early January, she announced the end of her engagement with Jelle Ploeg. Loiza previously expressed to RTL Boulevard her desire to marry him. More details are available in the video below.

De Kist airs on Thursday at 22:45 on NPO 2.

Model Loiza recently shared a harrowing story of childhood assault and her determination to overcome adversity, highlighting a resilience that has defined her life and career. The revelation comes amid a recent personal setback – the dissolution of her engagement.

Loiza recounted being attacked by peers in her village, describing the physical assault as feeling “almost like a whip across my face.” The incident left her deeply distressed, prompting a frantic run home where she sought comfort from her mother.

The following day, despite visible injuries, Loiza was determined to take a scheduled school exam. “I’ve always been very focused on my appearance, but I didn’t look presentable,” she stated, referring to the “streaks” on her face. Utilizing her mother’s makeup, she attempted to conceal the marks, driven by a desire to avoid judgment.

“I had to pass that test, so I had to push through,” Loiza explained, reflecting on the experience. “And that’s also why I view the world the way I do. We have to keep going, because we can’t stand still.” This determination, she says, is a core principle guiding her approach to life.

The disclosure of this past trauma coincides with the recent end of Loiza’s engagement to Jelle Ploeg, which she had previously expressed a strong desire to see culminate in marriage, as reported by RTL Boulevard.

De Kist is scheduled to air on NPO 2 on Thursday at 22:45.
