Former MotoGP star Jorge Lorenzo is cautioning Marc Marquez about the inevitable effects of time, predicting the reigning champion will eventually be overtaken by younger riders.

Marquez’s championship run was a display of dominance, piloting the GP25 to near-unbeatable form. He secured victories in 23 of 36 races across 18 events, including 10 combined sprint and grand prix wins.
Marc Marquez is currently under contract with Ducati through the end of 2026, when he will be 33 years old. While many expect him to remain competitive next season, Lorenzo believes Marquez will inevitably “fade” with age.
“It will be difficult to beat Marquez, difficult to beat Bezzecchi with Aprilia, difficult to beat Acosta with KTM. Although Marc is 32 years old now, he will be 33 next year,” Lorenzo stated.
“Age doesn’t forgive anyone. Even if your name is Messi, Maradona, or Michael Jordan, age doesn’t forgive you. So, it is certain that a young rider will come along in the future who will eventually beat him,” Jorge Lorenzo said in Motosan. This adds another layer of intrigue to the upcoming season as the next generation of riders looks to challenge the established order.
Marc Marquez is currently recovering from a broken collarbone sustained in Mandalika. He skipped the post-season test in Valencia and is aiming to return for winter testing in Sepang early next year.
