A new Christmas carol, “Athyunnatha!,” is bringing a fresh wave of excitement to Malayali communities around the world. Created by the Chelmsford Malayali community in the UK, the song blends traditional rhythms with a Western musical style.

The song’s captivating backdrop and the vocals of K.G. Markos are major highlights. Prince Mathew wrote the lyrics and composed the music. He also created “Nee Enna Porul,” a song performed by Madhu Balakrishnan, which won a South Indian Cinema & Television Academy Best Director Award.

Lijo Maliekkal and Anu Ponnathum collaborated on the orchestration, ensuring a high musical standard for the track. The music video beautifully captures the spirit of Christmas, featuring members of the Chelmsford Malayali families. The genuine performances, including those of children under two years old, bring the visuals to life. The chorus was also performed by singers from Chelmsford. Justin of Beyondtheborders captured and edited the footage.

A karaoke version of the song is now available for Christmas and New Year’s events. Organizers hope the song will bring energy to both large stage performances and smaller gatherings.
