A celebration of a third birthday was bittersweet for pastry chef Marco Costa and digital creator Carolina Pinto, as they mourned the loss of a family member on January 22nd.
“My daughter turned three years old. And, on the same day, my uncle Alfredo, brother to my beloved grandmother, passed away. He chose to leave on my little girl’s day,” Pinto shared with her followers. “Life has these difficult ironies to explain… as if to remind us, without asking permission, that everything is fragile and precious at the same time.”
Pinto accompanied her words with a photograph of her last time with her uncle, taken in 2023. “I brought Emília to see him in my arms, I introduced him to my daughter, and today I am immensely grateful for that moment. Could I have seen him more often? Yes. But unfortunately, life seems determined to teach us that sometimes it’s too late.”
“My uncle Alfredo was a good man. A truly good man. One of those who build, unite, and leave an entire family structured, present, strong, and always together. The reflection of who he was in life. Brother to the greatest love of my life: my grandmother. Now, they are together again,” she continued.
“Between the birth of another year for my daughter and the farewell to someone who meant so much, this day was beautiful, sad, and full of love. May he rest in peace. And may life remind me every day to be more, to say more, to love more. Uncle, you were a great man,” Pinto concluded.
