The fresh film Wuthering Heights, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, topped the North American box office during Valentine’s Day weekend 2026. The R-rated drama debuted with $34.8 million, or Rp585.5 billion.

The film is projected to earn $40 million through the President’s Day holiday on Monday, February 16, though competitors estimated a four-day total closer to $35 million.

A surprise came from international markets, where Wuthering Heights performed strongly with $42 million from 76 territories, bringing its global opening total to $82 million, or approximately Rp1.37 trillion.

Given that domestic ticket sales fell slightly below expectations, the film will likely rely on overseas audiences to recoup its $80 million production budget, not including global promotional costs reaching tens of millions of dollars.

Emerald Fennell wrote and directed Wuthering Heights, marking her third feature film following the Oscar-winning revenge thriller Promising Young Woman, and Saltburn.

Wuthering Heights outperformed several new releases, including the animated sports adventure GOAT and the heist thriller Crime 101 starring Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and Barry Keoghan.

Two holdovers, the survival thriller Send Help and the romantic comedy Solo Mio from Angel Studios, rounded out the top five.

GOAT landed in second place with $26 million from 3,862 theaters and is projected to reach $32 million through the Monday holiday. It collected $15.6 million from 42 overseas markets for a global total of $47.6 million.

This marks a solid start for an animated film in a challenging market for original animation. Sony Pictures Animation, which produced GOAT at a cost of $80 million, hopes the sports story will have staying power in theaters.

Crime 101 held at number three with $15.1 million from 3,161 locations over the weekend and is projected to earn $17.7 million through Monday. In international markets, the film collected only $12 million from 60 territories.

Even as a respectable number for an adult-oriented film, it’s a concern as Amazon MGM spent $90 million on its production. With theater owners taking roughly half of ticket sales, Crime 101 will need to remain in theaters for an extended run to break even.

Send Help, the horror film starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien, dropped to fourth with $9 million over the weekend. After three weeks in release, the Disney film has grossed $48 million domestically and $72 million globally on a $40 million budget.

Thanks to Send Help and the continued success of Zootopia 2 and Avatar: Fire and Ash, Disney became the first studio to surpass $1 billion at the global box office in 2026.

Rounding out the top five was Solo Mio with $6.2 million over the weekend. The PG-rated film features Kevin James as a man left at the altar who ends up going on his honeymoon alone. To date, the film has earned $18 million after two weeks in theaters.
