Cartagena, Colombia, hosted the 91st annual Señorita Colombia pageant this weekend, crowning María Antonia Mosquera Carvajal of valle as the nation’s representative for the coming year. The event, a long-standing tradition showcasing Colombian beauty and culture, saw 26 contestants compete for the coveted title and a platform to advocate for social causes. Mosquera Carvajal’s win follows a competition that also recognized representatives from Chocó, Córdoba, and Bolívar as first, second, and third princesses, respectively.

The stage was set for glamour, music, and talent as 26 contestants vied for the title of Señorita Colombia 2025 at the National Beauty Contest, one of Colombia’s most celebrated pageants.

María Antonia Mosquera Carvajal, representing Valle, was crowned Señorita Colombia, taking the top prize after a night of fierce competition. Chocó was named first princess, Córdoba took the title of second princess, and Bolívar was awarded third princess.

Mosquera Carvajal quickly became a standout, captivating audiences with her poise, beauty, and stage presence throughout the evening gown and swimsuit competitions. Her confidence and elegance consistently drew attention.

Musical guest Juan Carlos Coronel provided entertainment throughout the gala, performing both with the candidates and in a solo segment, adding an artistic flair to the evening. The event drew local dignitaries, special guests, and devoted fans of the competition.

With a history spanning 91 years, the pageant returned to Cartagena with support from the city’s mayor’s office and the Bolívar Governorate, long-time partners in the event’s production. Current Señorita Colombia, Catalina Duque, is currently competing in Miss International in Japan and was unable to pass on the crown.

The evening’s excitement built as the judges announced the 10 semifinalists:

  8. Señorita Atlántico — Valentina Olano Wightman
  9. Señorita Bolívar — María José Ayazo
  10. Señorita Valle — María Antonia Mosquera

The tension reached a peak with the announcement of the Top 5, igniting the crowd at the Cartagena Convention Center. When Valle was called as a finalist, a resounding ovation erupted as the audience chanted “¡esa es!” in support of María Antonia Mosquera Carvajal.

She was joined by the representatives from Atlántico, Chocó, Córdoba, and Bolívar, forming a group of finalists who impressed with their stage presence, runway skills, and the support they received from both the judges and the audience.

When asked about the country’s biodiversity and natural wealth, María Antonia Mosquera stated: “We are a multicultural, multiethnic country, but we are also a country that has been able to rise and flourish just like our rainforest,” a response that was met with enthusiastic applause.

Mosquera Carvajal’s path to the crown was further solidified by two awards: Elegancia Primatela and the award for Best Traditional Costume, as chosen by the judges, confirming her status as a frontrunner.

Beauty pageant expert Jorge Dusterdieck shared his analysis following the evening gown competition, predicting Chocó as third princess, Córdoba as second princess, Atlántico as first princess, Bolívar as the runner-up, and Valle as the overall winner of the National Beauty Contest 2025, praising Valle’s strong runway presence.

The pageant concluded on a high note, celebrating not only the talent of Colombian women but also the potential of the new queen and all the contestants who participated. The event continues a long tradition of showcasing Colombian culture and beauty on a national stage.
