Nintendo is set to launch its first major title for the highly anticipated Switch 2, wiht Mario Tennis Fever arriving February 12. The sequel to the popular Mario Tennis aces, wich sold 4.5 million units, will feature the largest character roster in the series’ history-38 playable heroes-and a host of new gameplay features. Alongside the game, Nintendo will simultaneously release new Light Purple and Light Green Joy-Con 2 controllers, continuing the company’s strategy of pairing hardware releases with first-party titles.
Nintendo is gearing up for its first major release of the year, aimed at users of the upcoming Switch 2 console. The launch will include a new Mario Tennis game, accompanied by matching themed controllers.
On February 12, a sequel to the popular Mario Tennis Aces will arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2. The original title sold 4.5 million units, establishing a strong fanbase for the sports-based Mario spin-off.
Mario Tennis Fever will boast the largest roster of playable characters in the series’ history, with a total of 38 selectable heroes. New additions include Goomba, Nabbit, Piranha Plant, Baby Wario, and Baby Waluigi, marking their debut in the Mario Tennis franchise.
Players will also have access to 30 unique rackets, dubbed Fever Rackets, each offering distinct gameplay advantages. For example, the Mini Mushroom Racket shrinks opponents, while the Shadow Racket creates a duplicate player. Nintendo has released a preview showcasing these and other new and returning features.

The February 12th launch isn’t limited to the game itself. Nintendo is also releasing a new line of Joy-Con 2 controllers to coincide with Mario Tennis Fever. These controllers feature a vibrant color scheme inspired by the game.
The new Light Purple and Light Green Joy-Con 2 controllers are available for pre-order now at My Nintendo Store for $124.99. The release of new controller colors alongside a major game launch is a common strategy for Nintendo, aiming to boost hardware sales and enhance the gaming experience.
