Further details are emerging in the death of actor Matthew Perry, best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom *Friends*. Mark Chavez, a man who allegedly assisted Perry in obtaining ketamine, has been sentenced to eight months of house arrest and community service, according to court documents. Chavez is one of five individuals currently implicated in the investigation surrounding Perry’s October 2023 death, which was attributed to the acute effects of ketamine combined with drowning [[2]].

ويشتبه في أن الطبيب الرئيسي الملاحق في القضية سلفادور بلاسينسيا أدّى دورا أساسيا في وفاته، مع أنه لم يُزوّد الممثل بـ”الكيتامين” الذي قتله.
وأظهر التحقيق أن بلاسينسيا تولى تنظيم “استغلال” الممثل، وحُكم عليه بالسجن 30 شهرا في وقت سابق من الشهر الجاري.
ووقع المحققون على رسالة نصية كتبها بلاسينسيا في سبتمبر 2023، جاء فيها “أتساءل كم سيدفع هذا المعتوه”.
وسبق للسلطات أن أوضحت أن عبوات “الكيتامين” لم تكن تكلّف الأطباء سوى 12 دولارا، كانوا يبيعونها للممثل بمبلغ 2000 دولار.

The October 2023 death of Matthew Perry, found unresponsive in his jacuzzi, sent shockwaves through Hollywood and deeply saddened fans of “Friends.” The news sparked a wider conversation about addiction and mental health within the entertainment industry.
Perry had been open about his struggles with addiction and had been receiving ketamine under the supervision of medical professionals as part of depression treatment.
However, authorities say the legal drug was sometimes diverted for purposes of stimulation or recreation, and Perry relapsed in the fall of 2023, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
This relapse led the actor to fall prey to “unscrupulous” doctors, officials stated.
Dr. Salvador Plasencia, the primary physician under investigation in the case, is suspected of playing a key role in Perry’s death, though he did not provide the ketamine that ultimately led to his passing.
An investigation revealed Plasencia orchestrated the “exploitation” of the actor and was earlier this month sentenced to 30 months in prison.
Investigators uncovered a text message from Plasencia, dated September 2023, which read, “I wonder how much this goofball will pay.”
Authorities previously revealed that the ketamine packets cost the doctors only $12, but were sold to Perry for $2,000.
