Health officials in Jalisco, Mexico are expanding vaccination efforts this weekend with mobile clinics throughout the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area and other communities, aiming to curb a recent measles outbreak. The move comes as the state reports over 1,100 confirmed cases and two deaths linked to the highly contagious virus as of February 5, 2026.

In Guadalajara, vaccination modules will be located in Plaza de la Liberación and Plaza Universidad, near the Tren Ligero (light rail) station, operating on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Who should get vaccinated against measles?

Residents of Zapopan can access vaccinations at Plaza La Perla, also on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. An additional module will be available at Metrocan, located in Parque Metropolitano, on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

In Tlaquepaque, vaccination sites will be set up at the municipal government building and the San Martin de las Flores Health Center, both operating Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

In Tonalá, vaccination modules will be available in the main plaza and at the Tonalá Hospital, operating from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Residents of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga can find vaccination sites in Plaza Principal, Soriana Santa Fe, Multiplaza del Valle, and Plaza Regina, with varying hours throughout the weekend.

The intensified vaccination strategy, which includes door-to-door outreach in areas with active cases and expanded vaccination points, is a coordinated effort to contain the measles outbreak and halt its spread. This public health response underscores the importance of maintaining high vaccination rates to protect communities from preventable diseases.

The initiative involves collaboration between the Jalisco State Government through the Jalisco Health Secretariat (SSJ), the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), the Institute of Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), Guadalajara Civil Hospitals, Municipal Medical Services, and other healthcare institutions.

The goal is to ensure all girls, boys, adolescents, and adults under 50 years of age have completed their vaccination schedule, strengthening collective immunity throughout the state. Currently, the state health department has 40 mobile vaccination modules operating in high-traffic areas such as public squares, shopping centers, government offices, and community spaces.

As of February 5, 2026, Jalisco has recorded 1,183 confirmed measles cases and two associated deaths.
