Teenager Dubbed ‘Fedora Man’ Reveals Identity After Louvre Heist Photo Goes Viral

A 15-year-old student from Rambouillet, France, has revealed himself as the subject of a widely circulated photograph taken at the Louvre Museum on October 19th, 2025, following a daring daylight robbery of French crown jewels.

Pedro Elias Garzon Delvaux became an internet sensation after an Associated Press photograph showed him walking past police at the Louvre, dressed in a distinctive three-piece suit and fedora. Online sleuths dubbed him “Fedora Man” and speculated he might be a detective, an insider, or even an AI creation. Garzon Delvaux explained he intentionally remained silent as theories swirled, wanting to “make the mystery last.” “I didn’t want to say immediately it was me,” he said. “With this photo there is a mystery, so you have to make it last.”

Garzon Delvaux, who attends a school without a uniform, said his style is inspired by 20th-century history and fictional detectives like Hercule Poirot. He explained his fedora is a tribute to French Resistance hero Jean Moulin, reserved for weekends, holidays, and museum visits. The theft of the crown jewels has prompted a review of security protocols at national museums across France. His mother, Félicité Garzon Delvaux, emphasized the importance of art and museums, stating, “Art and museums are living spaces. Life without art is not life.”

The teenager’s unexpected fame has led to media requests and speculation about future opportunities, with Garzon Delvaux jokingly hoping for a film role. He has since made his Instagram account public, confirming his identity to the millions who followed the online mystery. You can learn more about the Louvre Museum and its collections on its official website.

Authorities continue to investigate the crown jewel heist, and Garzon Delvaux is expected to return to his normal life, albeit as a viral sensation, while officials have stated they are pleased the public’s attention has not hindered their investigation.
