The emerald green dress was prominently featured in an Instagram clip promoting “With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration,” set to debut on December 3rd. Viewers quickly noticed the garment, recalling the story surrounding its initial appearance.
Markle first donned the dress in 2022 for her Variety cover shoot.
Journalist Vanessa Grigoriadis revealed in a 2024 appearance on Andrew Gold’s “Heretics” podcast that Markle reportedly did not return a number of items following a “very high-profile photoshoot” – specifically referencing the Variety images. The revelation sparked discussion about celebrity access to designer items and expectations around their return.
“It’s shocking to hear claims like these about someone who lives in a Montecito estate worth over $15 million, has deals worth $100 million, and yet would take the time to pocket jewelry and clothes from a photoshoot that they clearly can afford,” Grigoriadis, a contributor to The New York Times Magazine and Vanity Fair, stated.
