“How things are going… that’s what everyone’s been asking about,” Cláudio Ramos began, launching into a discussion with Merche Romero on Wednesday, March 25th. The conversation addressed recent speculation surrounding the presenter’s relationship status.
Romero appeared on the program “Dois à s 10” and publicly responded to rumors of a separation from Fábio Pinto when questioned by her friend and colleague.
“I know you don’t want to talk much about this, but can I just request how things are?” asked the morning demonstrate host.
“They’re good. Look, I love Fábio,” Romero replied. “Sometimes we need to step back to understand what we really feel. I went through that phase, and I’m now experiencing love in a different way.”
“There isn’t a specific formula. It’s not since society tells us we have to live in the same house, create the same habits. That’s not what makes love complete. Love is built, and love is also a choice,” she explained.
Ramos inquired whether a difficult period following the death of her brother, Óscar Romero, on January 4, 2026, might be contributing to any strain in her marriage.
“Fábio is a wonderful person, he’s been very present. Unfortunately, there was a time when I wasn’t ready to give him that love,” Romero said.
“Because your pain was so great…” Ramos added. “And it continues to be, it’s been a learning process, but above all, he’s my best friend and I love my best friend,” the presenter clarified.

“Sometimes I need not to see certain things so as not to hurt myself. It’s not that the person wants to hurt me. […] People should focus on living and being physically present, and not feed off what they see on social media. And when I need to step away for any reason, from anyone, I simply leave the social network, I don’t want to see it and I don’t want it to appear because it also hurts me.”
“It didn’t hurt me at all, it has nothing to do with that. If the relationship is meant to continue, it will. But is there love? Yes, there is,” she finally clarified regarding the current state of her marriage to Fábio Pinto.
Merche Romero, 49, and her partner, 15 years her junior, secretly married in the summer of 2024. The ceremony took place in the Maldives during a couple’s trip, just four months after they began dating.
