Fans of the Metal Gear Solid franchise are receiving a significant update designed to revitalize the classic game series.
Konami has released update 3.0.0 for Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1, introducing native 4K support – a feature players have requested since the collection’s initial release.
The key improvement is support for Ultra HD quality in MGS2 and MGS3. Previously, the games were limited to 720p, which appeared blurry on larger screens. The new patch dramatically improves image sharpness on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC consoles.
The update implements settings allowing players to choose between internal and output resolution. Players can utilize an “Adjusted” mode to upscale the quality to 4K, providing flexibility in personalizing and modernizing the games’ visuals. This level of customization allows players to tailor the experience to their specific hardware.
Changes also extend to the user interface. An option to remap buttons has been added, and sound issues in cutscenes have been resolved. These technical fixes enhance the overall experience with these iconic, yet demanding, titles.
While 4K support is focused on more powerful hardware, the Switch version has also seen improvements in performance. Konami’s move addresses initial criticisms of the collection and elevates it to a product worthy of the “Master” designation.
