Hotel technology platform Mews has secured new funding, pushing its valuation to $2.5 billion. The company provides a system for lodging facilities to manage reservations and check-ins, and is increasingly leveraging artificial intelligence to streamline operations.

The Series D funding round included investments from EQT Growth, Atomico, and HarbourVest Partners. This latest investment signals strong confidence in Mews’ position as a key innovator in the hospitality tech space, where automation and personalized guest experiences are becoming increasingly important.

Mews, already a unicorn – a company valued at over $1 billion – nearly two years ago, plans to use the new capital to accelerate its development of an AI-powered operating system for hotels. According to Matt Welle, CEO of Mews, “With the support of EQT Growth, we have the resources to continue our rapid development. We are building an operating system that is changing the way hoteliers work with guests.”

A core focus of the investment will be expanding the use of artificial intelligence within the platform. Mews aims to enhance automation, allowing hotels to better understand guest behavior and tailor services accordingly. The company also intends to reduce the workload on hotel staff and optimize revenue generation.

The integration of AI will provide hotel personnel with instant insights into occupancy rates, including predictive analytics. This will enable more dynamic pricing strategies and free up staff to focus on direct guest interaction. “We wanted hoteliers to spend more time with guests and less time in front of monitors or creating reports,” said Richard Valtr, co-owner of Mews. “This new phase of intelligence provides them with support in the form of digital colleagues who collaborate across systems and departments.”

Mews experienced a successful 2023, processing 42.3 million reservations, including over 3 million through its Mews Kiosk self-service system. The total transaction volume on the platform reached $19.7 billion.

The platform currently serves nearly 150,000 hotels worldwide, including prominent chains such as Generator-Freehand, The Strawberry Group, The Social Hub, and Airelles.
