Szubarczyk suffered a defeat in the U-16 quarterfinal, falling to Nicolas Leclercq of Hungary. The match concluded shortly after 1:00 AM local time, a scheduling detail the Polish competitor expressed his displeasure with.

“Not every match or tournament will be a perfect performance… It’s definitely easier to sleep at 1 AM than to play. I’ll depart the rest of my thoughts to myself,” Szubarczyk later wrote on his social media channels.
