Santa Fe Desert Chorale Receives $1 Million Endowment Gift
The Santa Fe Desert Chorale, a leading New Mexico music organization, announced today it has received a $1 million endowment gift from an anonymous donor, bolstering its long-term financial stability.
The transformative gift launches the organization’s newly managed endowment fund, overseen by nonprofit investment advisors eCIO. According to the Chorale, the endowment will secure the future of its Summer and Winter Festivals, facilitate the creation of new choral works, and expand community education programs. “This remarkable gift is a profound testament to the trust our donors place in us, and it honors our 43-year legacy in Santa Fe,” said Executive Director Emma Marzen. “We are deeply grateful for this considerable vote of confidence in our team and our vision.”
Artistic Director Joshua Habermann, in his 17th year with the Chorale, added that the funding will allow the ensemble to continue attracting top talent and inspiring audiences. Founded in 1982, the Santa Fe Desert Chorale has become a cultural cornerstone of the region, performing in venues like the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and attracting listeners from around the globe. The Chorale’s commitment to new music is also significant; they have commissioned over 30 new works by living composers. You can learn more about their history and mission on their About page.
The Chorale’s next concert series, Carols & Lullabies: Luminaria, runs December 13-21 and is already experiencing strong ticket sales. Endowments like this are increasingly vital for non-profit arts organizations navigating a changing philanthropic landscape, as reported by the National Endowment for the Arts. Officials stated the Chorale will continue to seek donations to grow the endowment fund and ensure its continued success.
