Tallinn, Estonia – Miss Universe estonia, Brigitta Schaback, has voluntarily relinquished her crown just weeks after competing in the international pageant held in El Salvador this past November.Schaback cited a fundamental disagreement with national director Natalie Korneichik as the reason for her departure, a move reflecting growing scrutiny of the roles adn expectations within the traditionally-structured world of beauty pageants. The 24-year-old model announced her decision via Instagram, underscoring her continued commitment to women’s empowerment and equality outside of the Miss Universe association.
Brigitta Schaback, Estonia’s representative in the recent Miss Universe competition, has relinquished her title, citing a misalignment with the views of the national director. The move comes after Schaback competed in the pageant, where approximately 130 countries were represented and 30 finalists were selected.
Schaback announced her decision on her Instagram account, explaining, “I am relinquishing the title of Miss Universe Estonia. My values and work ethic do not align with the views of national director Natalie Korneichik.”
The former beauty queen emphasized her commitment to empowering women and promoting equality, stating she will continue this work independently. “My goal is women’s empowerment and equality, therefore I will continue this activity independently, without connection to Miss Universe Estonia,” she wrote.
Prior to announcing her departure, Schaback had shared her perspectives on the competition and her core values on social media. The Miss Universe competition, a globally recognized platform, has historically provided opportunities for women to lead, inspire, and challenge societal norms.
“Equality has always been more than a belief for me – it is the foundation of everything I fight for,” Schaback posted. “The stories I have lived, the women I have met, and the experiences that have shaped me – all of this has led to one mission: to create a world where opportunities are truly equal for all.”
She continued, “Stepping onto the Miss Universe stage reminded me how powerful our voices can be when we use them consciously. For 74 years, this organization has given women a space to lead, inspire, and challenge the limits of possibility. I am proud to be part of a platform that reflects values dear to me: empowerment, justice, fairness, and courage.”
Schaback concluded, “As women, we rise when we support each other, when we dare to speak honestly, and when we choose to fight for something bigger than ourselves. I hope this message inspires someone to believe more in their potential and see that equality is not just an idea, but a future we can create together.”
Schaback’s decision to step down highlights the increasing scrutiny and evolving expectations surrounding beauty pageants and their role in contemporary society. She expressed gratitude to those who supported her throughout her journey.
