Mixx Audio Analog+: Platine vinyle et lecteur CD intégrés

As the resurgence of physical media continues, Mixx Audio is challenging conventions with an unexpected product. Previously known for straightforward audio devices, the British brand has unveiled the Analog+, a turntable that integrates a CD player directly beneath its platter.

A CD Player Discreetly Hidden Under the Platter

Even as Philips pioneered the concept with the Fidelio FT1 turntable featuring a front-facing CD drawer, Mixx Audio has taken a radically different approach. The Analog+ employs a concentric design: the CD playback mechanism is positioned at the center of the turntable, accessible via a transparent cover. This innovative approach to integrating legacy formats speaks to a growing desire for all-in-one audio solutions.

A dedicated button opens the compartment, while closing it is done manually. Once the cover is closed, it integrates the spindle for positioning the vinyl record conventionally. This is a bold and original idea, although it does impose some limitations, such as the inability to change CDs while a record is playing.

Beyond its originality, integrating the CD player under the platter appears to have allowed Mixx Audio to limit the chassis thickness. Philips was forced to develop a more substantial turntable to accommodate a full CD drawer. The approach taken by Mixx Audio could, however, reduce the platter’s mass—a crucial element for the precision and stability of vinyl playback.

A Sleek Design for the Living Room

Visually, the Analog+ emphasizes simplicity and practicality. Its rectangular, flat, and compact chassis (40.5 x 34 x 9.6 cm) rests on a solid wood base, complemented by a metal control panel. The front panel groups essential buttons (play/pause, stop, forward/backward, repeat), a small display showing CD playback information (track number and elapsed time), and a Bluetooth indicator. The unit can also be controlled with a supplied infrared remote control.

A Truly “Plug & Play” Turntable

For vinyl playback, Mixx also focuses on ease of employ with a fully automatic design. The tonearm automatically positions itself at the beginning of the record and lifts at the end of playback. The turntable is compatible with 33 and 45 rpm records, in 12 and 7-inch formats, with electronic speed change.

The Analog+ comes with a pre-mounted Audio-Technica AT3600L entry-level cartridge, confirming the product’s straightforward approach. A notable feature is that the repeat function isn’t limited to CDs: it also allows you to loop an entire side of a vinyl record—a relatively rare option, even on automatic turntables.

CD Player, Bluetooth 5.3 Transmitter, and Built-in Phono Preamp

The integrated CD player supports CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs, as well as WAV, MP3, and WMA files. Controls can be operated directly from the turntable or via the remote control, while the front display simplifies navigation.

To adapt to current usage, the Analog+ includes a Bluetooth 5.3 transmitter allowing wireless transmission to compatible active speakers or headphones. For wired connection, the turntable has an RCA line output, enabled by the presence of a built-in phono preamp. It should be noted, however, that disabling the integrated preamp when switching to CD will be necessary. Mixx Audio does not provide the information, but the operation could be done via a physical switch or directly via the remote control.

Mixx Analog+

Priced at €350, the Mixx Analog+ offers a particularly competitive positioning, especially compared to the separate purchase of a turntable and a CD player. A hybrid, original, and accessible offering likely to appeal to physical media enthusiasts looking for an all-in-one device.
