A Double Life: Local Mom Leads a Secret Life as a Street Artist
A Bergen-based mother of young children is living a double life as a celebrated, yet anonymous, street artist known as Shy Girl. The artist, who prefers to keep her identity under wraps, recently debuted her solo exhibition, “The Heist,” at Grieghallen on March 5, 2026.
“Resten trenger ikke kjenne verken navnet eller utseende hennes,” – “The rest don’t need to understand her name or appearance,” the artist believes, according to a report in Bergensavisen.
Shy Girl does have a strong support system, though not everyone is thrilled with her chosen medium. “But my mother is not so enthusiastic about the illegal part of what I do!” she shared. The artist recounted a time when she and a collaborator were caught in the act. “En gang ble vi tatt på fersken. Da kjenner man virkelig på adrenalinet!” – “Once we were caught red-handed. Then you really feel the adrenaline!”
The exhibition marks a significant moment for the artist, who has gained a following for her work. This debut comes as street art continues to gain recognition as a legitimate and increasingly popular art form.
