Egyptian star Mona Zaki is stepping into a new arena, transitioning from the screen to the producer’s chair for the first time. Zaki is set to craft her production debut with the short film Alone, which will compete in the fifth edition of the Hollywood Arab Film Festival in Los Angeles.

The festival is scheduled to run from April 17 to April 20, 2026. Alone marks a significant milestone for Zaki, as it is the first project produced by her own company, “Her Story Films.” Founded in 2023 in partnership with Mai Abdel Azim, the production house is dedicated to supporting and highlighting women’s issues.

The short film, directed by Mona Dawood, delivers a poignant human drama. The plot centers on a woman struggling with dementia who refuses to acknowledge her condition. Through this narrative, the film explores the challenges faced by healthcare providers, depicting a world of confusion, fear, sadness, and isolation.

The cast features prominent Egyptian actresses, including Latifa Fahmy and Karima Mansour. Mansour has praised Zaki’s transition into this new role, describing her as a responsible artist whose venture into production deserves recognition.

By bringing Alone to the Hollywood Arab Film Festival, Zaki expands her professional footprint beyond acting, utilizing her company to champion impactful storytelling on an international stage.
