The new Dacia Duster Hybrid-G 150 4×4 is turning heads in the automotive industry, particularly with its innovative electrified all-wheel drive system. The model, which replaces the previous generation’s all-wheel drive, has impressed industry observers with its advanced technology offered at a remarkably accessible price point. Dacia’s latest offering is challenging perceptions of value in the automotive market.
Orders for the new Dacia Duster Hybrid-G 150 4×4 are now open, and initial reviews are highlighting the vehicle’s blend of advanced features and affordability. The car boasts a range of up to 1,500 km thanks to its dual fuel tanks – 50 liters each for LPG and gasoline. This extended range positions the Duster as a competitive option for long-distance drivers.
Developed by the company’s Horse division, the new powertrain represents a technological first for the Romanian automaker. A Dutch journalist who tested the Duster Hybrid-G 4×4 expressed surprise at the vehicle’s value proposition, stating, “I don’t understand how this model can cost so little with so much technology on board.”
The new Duster incorporates several key technical solutions, including a 1.2-liter mild hybrid engine with 48V technology, a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, a full hybrid system with an electric motor on the rear axle, and a two-speed gearbox on the rear axle. The Dutch journalist specifically noted the significance of the two-speed rear gearbox, commenting: “That’s something you only see on the Porsche Taycan, the new Mercedes CLA, and very few other premium electric cars in the world.”
Testing also indicates the Duster’s suspension is tuned to effectively absorb road imperfections, while features like descent assist enhance off-road driving. The combination of LPG and the hybrid system is also reported to contribute to reduced CO2 emissions. Importantly, the hybrid 4×4 LPG variant is priced lower than its conventional all-wheel drive predecessor.
In the Netherlands, the new Duster Hybrid-G 150 4×4 is available for €35,900, compared to €37,000 for the previous 4×4 version. According to reports, the combination of features and price prompted the Dutch journalist to question how Dacia can offer so much value at such an accessible price.
The same vehicle is listed at 28,750 euros in Romania.
