What to Expect at the Night of Hockey Legends
The main event, a clash between the Caps Heroes and the Czech Icons, is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM at the STEFFL Arena. Each team will ice a lineup of one goalie and four skaters. The game will be played over three 15-minute periods. In the event of a tie after 45 minutes, a five-minute three-on-three overtime period will determine a winner. Should the score remain level, a penalty shootout will follow. Regardless of the outcome, a show shootout for the Night of Hockey Legends Penalty Trophy will cap off the evening.
A Full Day of Hockey Festivities
The fun kicks off at 3:00 PM on the grounds of the STEFFL Arena with the opening of the Fan Village. Fans can test their skills in the Active Area, and enjoy refreshments from a punch stand, an Ottakringer beer truck, and a roasted chestnut stand. Autograph and photo opportunities with selected Caps Heroes and Czech Icons will be available from 3:40 PM to 4:20 PM. Between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM, the current Vienna Capitals team will join the festivities, also signing autographs and posing for photos. Doors to the STEFFL Arena will open at 4:45 PM.
Merchandise Available
A dedicated merchandise stand will be part of the Fan Village, offering jerseys, T-shirts, scarves, hats, and pucks as souvenirs of the Night of Hockey Legends. The fan shop, “The Locker Room,” will also open at 4:45 p.m. when the doors to the STEFFL Arena open, carrying both Night of Hockey Legends merchandise and official Vienna Capitals gear.
Game-Worn Jerseys Up for Auction
All game-worn jerseys from both the Caps Heroes and Czech Icons will be signed by the players and auctioned off in an online auction powered by Wiener Städtische. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Pho3nix Foundation, supporting children’s participation in sports projects and youth development programs in Eastern Austria. The auction will launch at 6:00 PM on December 13th, coinciding with the game’s start, and will conclude at 3:00 PM on December 16th.
