OKTAGON has recently seen a number of notable athletes depart. Among those who have left are Keita, Rock, Staines, Duque, Cartwright, and Hulme. A further departure has now been officially confirmed.

A heated exchange between Novotný and Pirát occurred at the end of last year. The Slovakian veteran indicated he would no longer compete in OKTAGON due to issues with tickets for the O2 arena, though the promoter subsequently downplayed this, suggesting a modern contract agreement was progressing well. Novotný and Pirát were even scheduled to meet in Ostrava, with an announcement regarding Samuel’s participation in the June event in Bratislava anticipated. However, this did not materialize, and speculation arose regarding his departure from OKTAGON, which has now been confirmed.

“With Pirát, we realize how it ended. Pirát is no longer a fighter for OKTAGON. Best of luck…” confirmed promoter Novotný in the latest MMA Letem Světem, stating that Samuel is indeed leaving OKTAGON and pursuing a different path. He is scheduled to compete in May at a FNC event, where he will fight Tlkanc for the OG belt.
