The men followed the women on the hill, with Polish fans keenly focused on Kacper Tomasiak, the surprise medalist from the normal hill competition. Even though, the 19-year-old faced challenging conditions in the first training session, managing a jump of just 114 meters. This placed him behind competitors like Faith Ardą Ipcioglu and Kazakh Daniil Vasiliev, ultimately finishing 37th.
Tomasiak Struggles in First Training Jump
Kamil Stoch fared better in the first training session. The three-time Olympic champion, in his final appearance at the Games, landed a jump of 124 meters despite the hard conditions, securing ninth place. Paweł Wąsek achieved the longest jump of the session, benefiting from favorable wind conditions, and finished 17th. Jan Hoerl topped the leaderboard, while World Cup dominator Domen Prevc was fourth. Hoerl then went on to win the final training session.
Stoch continued his strong form in the second training session, finishing fourth. Tomasiak showed improvement, placing 16th, and Wąsek was 22nd. The third training session brought another surprise, with Wąsek securing seventh place. Stoch finished 15th, and Tomasiak was 17th.
The individual competition on the large hill is scheduled for Saturday at 6:45 PM local time. The women’s competition will follow on Sunday at the same time. The ski jumping events will conclude on Monday, February 16th, with the men’s team competition.
