Omar Sebastián Pérez, a beloved figure for Independiente Santa Fe fans for the past four decades, suffered a heart attack on Wednesday and was promptly treated at Clínica Marly, according to reports from his academy and restaurant staff.
“Yesterday, Mr. Pérez sought emergency care at Clínica Marly due to severe chest pain. Following a series of tests, doctors determined he had suffered a heart attack. Fortunately, he received immediate attention and underwent a stent placement procedure, which successfully stabilized his condition,” a statement from the OP10 academy announced.

“Based on medical recommendations, he will remain under observation for the next five days at the same facility, receiving the necessary monitoring and follow-up care. We are pleased to report that, thanks to the swift intervention and treatment, his health is stable and the prognosis is good,” the statement continued.

Omar Pérez’s Career in Colombia
Pérez is currently 44 years old. He arrived in Colombia in 2004 to play for Junior de Barranquilla, where he won the league title in the second half of that year. He remained with the club until mid-2007, when he moved to Real Cartagena, where the team was relegated.

In 2008, he played for Medellín, reaching the league final in the second half of the year, which they lost to América.
