Despite significant investment from industry giant Disneyland Paris, Parc Astérix has been named France’s leading theme park for the fourth consecutive year, according to the Parcs Fans Awards announced on Saturday, November 29. The awards, presented annually since 2022, are determined by votes from thousands of theme park enthusiasts and a panel of specialized influencers.
Nigloland, located in the Aube region, also secured a win, receiving the award for best park with fewer than one million visitors for the fourth year in a row. Fraispertuis-City (Vosges) was recognized in the category of smaller parks, those welcoming less than 300,000 annual visitors. L’Aquascope, the indoor water park at Futuroscope featuring unique aquatic spaces and mapping projections, maintained its position as the best in its category.

Among the numerous new attractions launched this year at French parks, which are heavily investing to refresh the visitor experience and sustain growth, Mission Bermudes at Futuroscope was named France’s best new attraction. This unique aquatic roller coaster utilizes a system developed for the park by German manufacturer Mack Rides, controlling boat speed with underwater electromagnets, even allowing for reverse travel.

As Disneyland Paris prepares for the 2026 opening of its massive expansion and new Frozen-themed area, expected to be a significant event for the sector, the park received recognition for its nighttime spectacular, Disney Tales of Magic, launched in January 2025. The new family roller coaster at Parc Astérix, Cétautomatix, was praised for its “best use of theming” while the Sawmill ride at Fraispertuis-City received the award for “best new attraction” with a budget under €3 million.

Driven by strong growth since the pandemic, French theme parks have achieved record seasons. Ranking as the second-most visited sites in France (tied) behind Disneyland (which does not publicly release visitor numbers), Parc Astérix and the Puy du Fou both surpassed 3 million visitors this year. The Gaulish park announced in mid-October plans to invest €250 million over the next five years to continue its development, aiming to become a “must-visit” short-break destination in Europe.
