The impressive form is a stark contrast to his initial struggles after arriving at Old Trafford in February 2025, and praise is now flowing for the young player.

Dorgu’s debut for Manchester United ended in disappointment, as he was shown a straight red card during a match against Ipswich Town.

He subsequently faced criticism for costly errors, including a perceived miscommunication that contributed to a 0-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the 2025 Europa League final.

Despite the setbacks, Dorgu remained resolute, continuing to work hard and placing his faith in a higher power.

A devout Catholic, Dorgu regularly attends mass at the Holy Family parish of St. Margaret Clitherow in Manchester. His middle name, ‘Chinazaekpere,’ holds special significance, meaning ‘God answers prayers’ in the Nigerian language.

“Prayer is very important in my life and my family’s life. I have been praying since I was a child and continue to do so until now,” Dorgu shared in a video interview at the Holy Family Church, uploaded to Manchester United’s YouTube channel in October 2025.

“I always believe and am sure that God has a plan for my career. I continue to pray even when things are not going well,” he added.

“Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu. My middle name means God answers prayers, and that’s the name my parents gave me when I was born,” said the player, who has Nigerian heritage.
