Pierre T.F. Riggs Advances to 11AA Semifinals with Dominant Quarterfinal Win
Pierre T.F. Riggs secured a decisive 41-7 victory over Tea Area in the Class 11AA quarterfinals yesterday at Hollister Football Field, advancing to the semifinals.
Sophomore Jerren Deal led the Governors’ offensive charge, completing 13 of 18 passes for 324 yards and four touchdowns with one interception. Key plays included a 48-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Terwilliger in the first quarter and a 50-yard strike to Carter Schiefelbein early in the second half. Schiefelbein finished the game with a team-high seven receptions for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Pierre amassed a total of 495 yards of offense, controlling the game on both sides of the ball. This win continues Pierre’s strong season and keeps their championship hopes alive.
Tea Area’s Mitch Grant completed 14 of 28 passes for 123 yards and one touchdown, connecting with Grifin Wiebenga for a 19-yard score in the third quarter, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Pierre’s powerful offense. Defensively, Lincoln Schoenhard led the Governors with a game-high 12 tackles. The Titans finished the 2025 season with a four-game losing streak. Pierre will now travel to face No. 2 seed Huron next week, who defeated Brookings 7-2 on Thursday. The semifinal matchup will determine who advances to the 11AA championship game.
