Penguins Extend Win Streak to Four, Defeat Panthers 5-3

Sidney Crosby scored two power-play goals and finished with three points as the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Florida Panthers 5-3 on Thursday night, continuing their four-game winning streak.

Crosby’s two goals were part of a dominant offensive performance for Pittsburgh, which also saw goals from Ben Kindel, Rickard Rakell, and Connor Dewar. Erik Karlsson and Evgeni Malkin each contributed two assists. Brad Marchand and Sam Reinhart scored for Florida, but Sergei Bobrovsky’s struggles in net – allowing five goals on just 16 shots – proved costly. This win marks the Penguins’ best start to a season since 2019-20.

The game also featured a rare matchup between brothers Caleb Jones of Pittsburgh and Seth Jones of Florida, with Caleb’s team emerging victorious for the second time. Crosby now sits just two points shy of joining hockey legends Gordie Howe, Steve Yzerman, and Mario Lemieux as the only players to reach 1,700 career points with a single franchise. The Penguins’ power play was particularly effective, going 2-for-3 on the night, and improving their record to 11-0-0 when scoring a power-play goal. Despite outshooting the Penguins 31-9 in the final 40 minutes, the Panthers couldn’t overcome the early deficit. Pittsburgh goaltender Tristan Jarry made 34 saves to secure the win. The Penguins will next host Columbus on Saturday, while the Panthers will welcome Vegas to Florida.
