Pokémon GO trainers can mark their calendars for a February Community Day event, as Niantic has announced plans to spotlight Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix on February 1, 2026. The event, part of the ongoing “Roads of Valor” season, offers players increased spawn rates for both Pokémon and a chance to obtain exclusive moves through evolution – Fire Blast for Vulpix and ice Shard for Alolan Vulpix. The declaration comes as Niantic navigates changes within the company, including recent restructuring and adjustments to the game’s monetization model.
Pokémon GO players have a Community Day to look forward to, with Niantic detailing plans for a February 2026 event. The announcement comes amid a period of change for the augmented reality game, including recent monetization adjustments and workforce reductions following the sale of Pokémon GO and other titles.

The event will take place on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time.

Featured Pokémon
Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix will appear more frequently in the wild.*
*Lucky Trainers may even encounter their Shiny versions or those with a special background!
Featured Attacks
Evolve Vulpix during the event or up to four hours afterward to obtain a Ninetales that knows the Charged Attack Fire Blast.
Evolve Alolan Vulpix during the event or up to four hours afterward to obtain an Alolan Ninetales that knows the Charged Attack Ice Shard.
Community Day Special Research
For $1.99 (or the equivalent in your local currency), players can access an exclusive Special Research task for Vulpix’s Community Day. Completing this research will unlock additional rewards, including:
- Two encounters with Vulpix featuring special backgrounds.
- An additional encounter with Alolan Vulpix with a special background
- Additional encounters with Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix
- A Premium Battle Pass
- A Rare Candy XL

- Remember that you can now buy and gift tickets to friends who have reached Great Friendship level or higher.

Event Bonuses
- Triple Catch XP.
- Double Candy for catching Pokémon.
- Double the chance for Trainers level 31 and above to receive Candy XL for catching Pokémon.
- Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
- Take a snapshot during Community Day for a surprise!
- Lure Modules will last for one hour and may attract Featured Pokémon.*
- You’ll be able to open one additional Special Trade, up to a maximum of three for the day.*
- Trades will require 50% less Stardust.*
*While most bonuses will only be active during the three-hour event duration, these will be active from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM local time.
Lure Module Bonus
From 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM local time, Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix are likely to appear near PokéStops with active Lure Modules. Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix attracted by Lure Modules will also have an increased chance of being Shiny and having a special background. You’ll also have a higher chance of finding the Featured Pokémon even after the event ends!
Field Research
A February Community Day-themed Field Research will be available! Catch Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix to earn rewards such as Stardust, Ultra Balls, additional encounters with Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix, and more! You might even encounter Field Research that culminates in encounters with Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix with a special background… with a little luck!
