PPP Nominates Presidential Loyalists Amid ‘Yoon Again’ Controversy
The People’s Power Party (PPP) has announced a series of key candidate nominations, including a single nomination for Lee Jin-sook in Daegu Dalseong, as the party faces mounting criticism for allegedly prioritizing loyalists of President Yoon Suk Yeol.

The nominations have sparked accusations that the party is returning to a strategy centered on the president’s inner circle, a trend critics have labeled as “Yoon Again.” Party officials have dismissed these claims, responding to the criticism by questioning specifically who is being referred to in such labels.
Among the confirmed selections, Lee Jin-sook has been designated as the sole nominee for the Daegu Dalseong district. The party has nominated Kim Tae-gyu and Park Jong-jin.
Not all seats have been settled. In Busan Buk-gap, the party will hold a primary to decide between Park Min-shik and Lee Young-poong. Meanwhile, the nomination for Chung Jin-suk remains on hold.
The internal party dynamics are unfolding alongside the broader electoral landscape. Seven re-election matchups have now been finalized, highlighting several high-stakes contests. These include a battle between Lee Kwang-jae and Lee Yong in Gyeonggi Hanam-gap, as well as a contest between Song Young-gil and Park Jong-jin in Incheon Yeonsu-gap.
The PPP’s current nomination strategy underscores the ongoing tension between maintaining presidential alignment and addressing calls for party renewal.
