Argentina’s top athletes were honored Monday night at the traditional Premios Olimpia ceremony, held at the Usina del Arte in Buenos Aires. The event celebrated achievements across a wide range of sports, with many winners and prominent figures from the sporting world in attendance.

This year’s edition marked a significant expansion into the world of esports, with two Olimpia awards presented: one to the team Leviatán, and another recognizing the top player, Lilitenz, a star in Counter Strike 2.

The ceremony also included special tributes to the Argentinian national football team, with Angel Di María accepting the honor, and to the Kamikazes beach handball squad. A poignant moment of remembrance was held for athletes and journalists who passed away this year, including Loco Gatti and Miguel Angel Russo.

A special Olimpia de Brillante was awarded to Ricardo González, representing the Argentinian team that won the 1950 Basketball World Cup at Luna Park. The River team, champions of the 1975 Metro tournament, and Argentinos Juniors, winners of the 1985 Libertadores Cup, were also recognized. Perhaps the most anticipated award, the Olimpia Infinito, went to the legendary Diego Maradona.

As the evening drew to a close, attendees voted for the Premio Inspiración, a prize including an annual scholarship to support the winner’s athletic development. Manuel Tripero, a talented canoeist, was selected as the recipient.
