Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Australian Visit: Fatherhood and Wellness

Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have touched down in Australia for a low-key, privately funded tour, marking their first return to the country since their official royal visit in 2018.

The couple kicked off the Melbourne leg of their whirlwind trip on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, with a heartwarming visit to the Royal Children’s Hospital. The hospital foyer was packed with eager families and young patients waiting to meet the pair. During the visit, Prince Harry spent time on the Adolescent Oncology and Rehabilitation ward meeting a patient named Hamish, while Meghan spent time hugging children and greeting families.

Among those meeting the couple was 17-year-old Scarlett McGowan, who previously met Queen Elizabeth II. McGowan described the encounter as “surreal,” noting that “Harry was very easy to chat to.” When the Duke asked about her care, she praised the hospital’s nurses, stating they “take such good care of us.”

The visit to the hospital is just the start of a busy itinerary in Melbourne, where the couple will spend three days. Their schedule includes visiting a women’s shelter and engaging with various charities, alongside “private meetings and special projects.” This includes a ticketed conference scheduled for Thursday, April 16, 2026.

Beyond their charitable efforts, the tour will also feature a visit to a luxury retreat. The couple is expected to travel to Canberra and Sydney in the coming days as they continue their Australian journey.
