Jakarta – PT Prodia Widyahusada Tbk is expanding its free dementia screening program in 2026, building on the success of initiatives that reached 40,000 individuals across Indonesia in recent years. Early detection of cognitive decline is increasingly key as populations age and the prevalence of dementia rises globally.
The program, which will target 20,000 older adults throughout Indonesia, is a response to strong public interest and participation in screenings held in 2024 and 2025. Participants aged 50 and over can access the free screenings at Prodia Clinic branches.
The screenings commence with the AD-8 INA questionnaire, followed by a MOCA-INA assessment administered by a Prodia physician for those with initial scores of 2 or higher. Individuals showing signs of cognitive impairment will be referred for further evaluation and consultation with a neurologist or geriatric specialist at Prodia Senior Health Centres in Jakarta, Surabaya, and Makassar.
According to Indriyanti Rafi Sukmawati, Director of Business & Marketing at Prodia, the program’s success demonstrates a growing awareness among the public, particularly older adults, about the risks of dementia and the importance of early detection for maintaining quality of life.
“This indicates an increasing level of public awareness, especially among the elderly, regarding the risk of dementia and the awareness of the importance of early detection as a preventive measure to maintain quality of life in old age,” Sukmawati said on February 12, 2026.
In 2025 alone, the program screened nearly 30,000 participants, exceeding its target of 20,000 by over 140%. This represents a significant increase from approximately 10,000 participants screened the previous year, fueled by public education efforts.
Prodia’s commitment extends beyond screening, with plans to provide ongoing education and referrals for further consultation and examination as needed. AVP Business Prodia, Indri Marya Wulandari, emphasized the importance of empowering individuals to prioritize brain health and take preventative steps.
“We hope this initiative will encourage people to be more concerned about brain health and take preventive measures to reduce the risk of dementia,” Wulandari stated.
The initiative aligns with Prodia’s broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals, specifically focusing on providing healthcare services for all and supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being.
Dementia, characterized by a decline in cognitive function including memory, thinking, and language, can significantly impact independence and quality of life. Globally, an estimated 55 million people currently live with dementia, a number projected to triple by 2050, according to data from Alzheimer’s Disease International.
In Indonesia, over 1.2 million people are estimated to be living with dementia, highlighting the urgent need for increased awareness and access to early detection services. Prodia’s continued investment in this program underscores its dedication to improving public health and promoting proactive healthcare management.
Prodia is strengthening various sustainability programs focused on improving health literacy and equalizing access to medical services. This is realized through the development of health services based on personalized medicine, including through the Prodia Senior Health Centre, which prioritizes an integrated care approach tailored to the needs of each individual.
Through the sustainability and expansion of these initiatives, Prodia hopes to encourage people to be more proactive in maintaining brain cognitive function, utilizing early detection, and taking preventive measures to reduce the risk of dementia and support a more optimal quality of life.
