Quebec residents are bracing for a late-season blast of winter weather, with significant snowfall and mixed precipitation expected throughout the coming week. The unseasonal conditions come despite the arrival of spring, and could disrupt travel plans and daily life across the province.

As much as 40 centimeters (approximately 15.7 inches) of snow is forecast for some regions, according to MétéoMédia. A low-pressure system is the primary driver of the impending weather, and its trajectory will be crucial in determining the extent of the impact.

Sunday, March 22, 2026, is already seeing scattered flurries in Quebec, with accumulations of up to 0.37 centimeters (less than a quarter of an inch) possible. The chance of rain is high, at 80%, with expected accumulations of around 3.26 millimeters (approximately 0.13 inches). There is also a possibility of freezing rain or sleet. Météo Canada reports a high of -3° Celsius (26.6° Fahrenheit) and wind speeds averaging 24.5 km/h (15.2 mph).

The cold weather is expected to persist. Temperatures will remain below freezing throughout much of the week, and the region is not expected to see any significant warming trend in the near future, 985fm.ca reports.

Southern Quebec is also anticipating further snowfall despite the calendar indicating the start of spring, La Presse reported. Up to 10 centimeters (approximately 3.9 inches) of snow are expected in some areas on Sunday.

The TVA Québec Mega Parc and Galeries de la Capitale will be extending their hours on Saturdays starting May 16, TVA Nouvelles reports. This announcement, while unrelated to the current weather system, offers a glimpse of future seasonal changes.
