Raheem Sterling Makes Surprise Move to Feyenoord

In a surprising turn of events, veteran English international Raheem Sterling has joined Dutch Eredivisie side Feyenoord. The 31-year-vintage winger signed a deal with the club that will keep him in Rotterdam through the end of the current season, according to multiple reports.

Sterling, who began his career at Queens Park Rangers before making his name with Liverpool, brings a wealth of experience to Feyenoord. He was awarded the Golden Boy award in 2014 while playing for Liverpool. He then spent seven seasons with Manchester City, winning four Premier League titles and most recently played for Chelsea before a loan spell with Arsenal.

The move comes as a bit of a shock, as Ajax was also reportedly interested in acquiring the player, but Feyenoord was able to secure his signature.

Throughout his career, Sterling has consistently been a threat on the wing, and is currently the all-time leading English assist provider in the UEFA Champions League with 23 assists. He has earned 82 caps for the English national team.

Former teammates have lauded the signing, with one stating that Feyenoord has “done some very good business” in bringing Sterling to the club. This acquisition could prove pivotal for Feyenoord as they compete in the Eredivisie and potentially in European competitions.

Sterling’s most recent club appearance was with Arsenal, where he made 17 appearances during a loan spell. Prior to that, he played 59 games for Chelsea. His career statistics currently stand at 95 appearances and 18 goals for Liverpool, 225 appearances and 91 goals for Manchester City, and 59 appearances and 14 goals for Chelsea, as of May 25, 2025.
