Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has offered to pay dues in a check bounce case, with the Delhi High Court scheduling a hearing on his bail plea for February 16. According to his lawyer, Bhaskar, the actor has already submitted 2.5 crore rupees toward the outstanding amount and is prepared to deposit the remainder.

The court postponed the case because the opposing party had not yet responded to the bail application, Bhaskar explained. He added that the court has requested clarification regarding the repayment plan. Yadav has also sought permission to visit jail to receive instructions.
The legal trouble stems from a 2010 case involving bounced checks related to Yadav’s film venture, “Ata Pata Laapata.” Yadav and his wife had taken a loan of approximately 5 crore rupees from a company to finance the project, but were unable to repay it after the film’s commercial failure.
As numerous checks provided for repayment were dishonored, legal proceedings were initiated under the Negotiable Instruments Act. Over the years, the debt swelled to around 9 crore rupees, including interest, and penalties. Despite multiple deadlines set by the Delhi High Court, Yadav was unable to settle the amount, ultimately leading to a six-month jail sentence and his surrender to Tihar Court.
“What should I do? I don’t have any money, I don’t have any friends to help me, I have to face this crisis myself,” Yadav reportedly said before surrendering.
The news of Yadav’s situation prompted an outpouring of support from fellow actors including Ajay Devgn, Salman Khan, Varun Dhawan, and Sonu Sood, with the latter offering financial assistance and a role in an upcoming film. It was following this support that Yadav’s legal team approached the court with the offer to pay the outstanding amount.
