ATLANTA – A routine dinner took a frightening turn for one woman in Georgia, after she discovered a razor blade in her taco salad. The incident has raised serious questions about safety protocols at the restaurant and prompted a police investigation.
Diner Finds Razor Blade in Taco Salad
Sabrina Wideman-Reese was eating at a Mexican restaurant when she bit down on something unexpected – a nearly four-inch razor blade, according to WECT News 6. The discovery turned a casual Sunday meal into a terrifying ordeal.
“Why would someone do something like that? It could have been so much worse,” Wideman-Reese said, shaken by the experience. She immediately spat out the food after feeling blood in her mouth and realizing what she had encountered.
Police Investigating
Authorities are investigating how the blade ended up in her salad, according to reporter Chase Houle. Investigators are working to determine if the object was placed in the food intentionally or if it was accidental contamination.
Wideman-Reese’s injuries were not life-threatening, but the incident has understandably sparked concerns about food safety at the establishment. The case highlights the potential dangers of inadequate kitchen safety measures.
Restaurant Previously Cited for Violations
Public records indicate the restaurant has faced scrutiny before. A health inspection conducted in early February revealed multiple violations, Hoodline reports.
Inspectors documented issues including improper food handling practices, such as food containers being stored directly on the floor. The restaurant has declined to comment on the current incident.
A Difficult Time for One Woman
The incident is particularly difficult for Wideman-Reese, who recently lost her husband. “He fought to stay with the family, but it just didn’t work out,” she said.
Now facing hardship with her two daughters, the realization of what could have happened was especially frightening.
“It crossed my mind that if I had swallowed it, my kids would have been left without a mother,” Wideman-Reese shared.
