“I really found it terrible”
Leslie, known as the Real Housewife of Gooische Moeder, described a series of unsuccessful book signing events following the release of her latest work. During a recent podcast appearance, she recounted an experience where she prepared for a signing only to find no attendees.
“I did do that last time, but I found it really difficult,” Leslie explained when asked by podcast host Danny Froger about the possibility of future signings. When pressed for details, she revealed the awkwardness of the situation. “Well, because I went to one store, and nobody came. Honestly,” she said.
Leslie had set up a table filled with books, anticipating a crowd of readers, but the event was met with complete silence. “It’s really quite awkward when you’re standing with a whole table full of books and there’s nobody there,” she admitted with a laugh. “It’s like you’re the only one who wants it. I really found it terrible.”

She attempted a second signing, hoping for a better turnout. “It was on a weekday, so we decided to try again on the weekend, and nobody came then either,” Leslie shared, prompting laughter from Froger and the podcast’s other guests.
Leslie first gained recognition with her debut book, Mama huilt harder, which openly addressed the often-taboo subject of postpartum depression. Her new book, Mama pakt door, details her journey of self-discovery following that period. The success of her first book demonstrates a growing willingness to discuss mental health challenges, a trend increasingly reflected in digital wellness applications and online support communities.
In August, Leslie married Govinda den Hartog. A video recalling the “chaotic” wedding in Spain is available below.
