Real Madrid is moving closer to securing a one-year contract extension for German defender Antonio Rudiger, whose current deal expires at the end of the 2025-2026 season, according to reports from Radio Marca. The club’s decision comes amid ongoing discussions about the futures of several key players, with Rudiger set to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu for another campaign.

In contrast, midfielder Dani Ceballos is reportedly on the verge of departing Real Madrid this summer, having fallen out of favor with the club’s management. Spanish outlet Kooora noted that Ceballos has entered the radar of Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam, who have expressed interest in signing him ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Meanwhile, UEFA has upheld disciplinary sanctions against three Real Madrid players following their conduct during the Champions League quarterfinal second leg against Atletico Madrid in March 2025. Antonio Rudiger was fined €40,000, Kylian Mbappé €30,000, and Dani Ceballos €20,000 for violating the governing body’s basic rules of decent behavior. The club’s appeal against the penalties was rejected, confirming the fines as final.

The developments highlight a period of transition for Real Madrid, as the club balances contract renewals, potential departures, and disciplinary outcomes ahead of the summer transfer market. With Rudiger’s future now appearing secure and Ceballos likely heading elsewhere, the squad’s composition could notice notable changes by the start of the 2026-2027 season.
