Capcom is preparing to release Resident Evil Requiem, which, according to new information, will require 72.88 GB of storage space on the PlayStation 5, making it the largest title in the entire franchise. The survival horror game is scheduled for release on February 27, 2026, with pre-downloads beginning two days prior.

According to PlaystationSize on X/Twitter, Resident Evil Requiem will significantly exceed the file size of the Resident Evil 4 remake (approximately 57 GB at launch) and allow fans to begin downloading the game on February 25, ensuring immediate access upon release.

The substantial file size has sparked speculation within the gaming community. Some fans believe the game may include additional content from day one, such as a possible return of the traditional Mercenaries mode or other unlockable extras. However, Capcom has not yet made an official statement regarding these possibilities.

Resident Evil Requiem will feature a gameplay structure divided between two protagonists with distinct styles. Players will control Grace in sections focused on classic survival horror, whereas Leon S. Kennedy returns as a playable character during more intense action sequences. In both cases, players will be able to switch between first- and third-person perspectives. This design choice reflects a trend toward greater player agency and immersive experiences in modern game development.

Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled for release on February 27, 2026 and will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and Nintendo Switch 2, as detailed on the official Resident Evil website. The game commemorates the series’ 30th anniversary and revisits the overarching narrative between the Raccoon City incident and the activities of Umbrella Corp, last explored in Resident Evil 6 (2012).
