Italian actress and television personality Rocio Muñoz Morales is opening up about a period of personal upheaval surrounding the end of her 14-year relationship with actor Raoul Bova, coinciding with the release of her new book, La vita adesso. In a recent interview, Morales refocused the narrative away from the split, rather prioritizing her grief following the 2023 death of her father and her dedication to her two daughters, Luna and Alma. morales detailed the importance of family and finding strength amidst change, offering a candid look at her resilience and forward outlook.
Rocio Munoz Morales opened up about a challenging period in her personal life while promoting her new book, La vita adesso, revealing the profound impact of recent losses and changes. While many might assume the end of her relationship with Raoul Bova dominates her thoughts, Morales shared that her heart remains focused on honoring her late father and cherishing her daughters.
The Importance of Family
Morales spoke movingly about her father, who passed away in 2023, and the enduring connection she feels to him. She described sensing his presence, imagining him watching over her before she takes the stage.
“I will miss Christmas in Madrid with my family,” she shared. “I’ll miss walking the streets with him, discovering the city.”
Family, she emphasized, is the foundation of who she is. She described her mother as both strong and gentle, a woman who taught her that strength doesn’t require shouting or anger, but can be found in kindness and a smile.
“She has been very present for me during this time. Luna and Alma adore their grandmother. It’s been important to feel like a daughter again. It’s wonderful to have her with me. She’s a woman who brings warmth to the hearts of those around her.”
Her father, Morales explained, instilled in her a love for art and a curiosity for beauty in all its forms. She wished she could have sought his advice, heard his encouragement during this difficult chapter. “He would have encouraged me to remain the woman of values that I am. He always told me not to change, despite my imperfections.”
The Split from Raoul Bova
Morales described navigating a very delicate time in her life, choosing to remain silent as speculation swirled around her separation from Raoul Bova. She maintained that stance, declining to address the split negatively during her interview with Silvia Toffanin, and pointedly avoiding casting blame. This approach stands in contrast to other high-profile Italian divorces, such as that of Ilary Blasi and Francesco Totti.
“It was a very difficult period, during which I found incredible strength,” she said. “My silence is for my daughters. Almost instinctively, I felt like an eagle spreading its wings, protecting and caring for its young. I did it without fear, even when things happened that hurt me, even violently. But I persevered for them, and today I feel I have won the only battle that mattered – the battle for them. Today, I look at them and they are happy.”
Bova will always be their father, a fact that will never change, and she intends to foster a relationship based on respect with him. She wishes him all the best, believing that is the right thing to do. Morales insisted she harbors no regrets, and feels serene and at peace with herself.
Looking Ahead to Love
Drawing a parallel to the storyline of her book, Morales was asked if she, too, has found love again. The protagonist of her story falls for a man, Stefano, who is very different from what she thought she wanted.
The mention of Stefano sparked interest, given rumors linking Morales to Stefano De Martino. “I am single now after 14 years, and it feels strange,” she admitted. “I’m not closing the door on love, but my priority right now is different. I want to enjoy my daughters and embrace the challenges and gifts that life has in store for me.”
