Jakarta – The Indonesian Democratic party of Struggle (PDI-P) convened its first National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of 2026 today in Ancol, Jakarta, as the party prepares to address a range of critical issues facing Indonesia. The three-day event, themed “Satyam Eva jayate,” drew attention with the unexpected presence of political analyst Rocky Gerung, who attended amidst preparations for upcoming political challenges. Gerung’s arrival sparked immediate media interest, though he offered little comment upon entering the stadium, according to reports.

JAKARTA – Political analyst and activist Rocky Gerung attended the opening of the first National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Beach City International Stadium in Ancol, Jakarta. The gathering comes as the PDI-P prepares for upcoming political challenges and assesses its strategies for the future.

Gerung arrived at the stadium wearing a white shirt and khaki pants, according to observations. He was immediately surrounded by members of the media eager to learn the reason for his presence at the PDI-P event.

However, Gerung remained largely silent, responding to questions with a raised index and thumb. He then entered the Rakernas arena.

Gerung stood out among the hundreds of PDI-P members dressed in red. He was accompanied by security personnel from the Cakra Buana task force.

In addition to Gerung, other non-PDI-P figures attending the Rakernas included Febri Diansyah, a former spokesperson for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), and Komjen Pol (ret.) Oegroseno, a former Deputy Chief of Police.

Several PDI-P leaders were also present, including Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, known as Ahok, Ganjar Pranowo, and politician Andika Perkasa.

Jakarta Governor and Deputy Governor Pramono Anung and Rano Karno, both affiliated with the PDI-P, also attended the opening session of the Rakernas.

The theme of the first PDI-P National Working Meeting of 2026 is “Satyam Eva Jayate,” with the subtheme “There I Stand, Forever.” The three-day event, running from January 10-12, 2026, aims to address key political and societal issues facing Indonesia.

PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto stated that the Rakernas is being attended by party officials from the central and regional levels.

Regional branches are represented by their chairpersons, secretaries, and treasurers.

“This Rakernas will discuss the party’s political stance, including its response to various geopolitical issues, the ecological crisis, corruption, economic problems, law enforcement, and internal party programs and its responsibility to the people,” Kristiyanto said in a statement on Friday, January 9, 2026.
