A 15-year-old French dancer has received a prestigious city medal following a standout performance on national television.

Rodez, France – Timéa Werzynski-Rames, a 15-year-old native of Rodez, was honored with the Medal of the City of Rodez on Saturday, January 1st, following her appearance on the television program “Prodiges.” The recognition celebrates her achievements in the competitive world of dance, a field increasingly reliant on precision and dedication.

“I am very touched and moved to receive this award,” Werzynski-Rames said after the ceremony held at Rodez City Hall. “Returning here, home, with this recognition is a different emotion. It is a gratitude because leaving your family at the age of 9 is quite difficult, as is leaving the city where you have always lived. This medal brings me encouragement for my future career.”

Mayor Christian Teyssèdre, along with members of the municipal council, presented the medal to Werzynski-Rames. “She is the youngest to receive this distinction,” Teyssèdre noted, emphasizing the dedication required to excel in dance. “When I see all the prizes you have won in recent years, it’s the accumulation of quality work over time, it’s the definition of professionalism. Dance is a discipline that demands a lot of work and rigor.”

Werzynski-Rames began dancing at the age of four and has received unwavering support from her family. She recently won the dance category on “Prodiges.” While currently training at the Studio Temps de Flèche dance school in Carpentras, in the Vaucluse region, she frequently returns to Rodez and the Aveyron area to reconnect with her roots.

“Classical dance was a revelation and a great love. It started in Rodez,” explained Werzynski-Rames’ mother. “We quickly saw that she had an uncommon level. We encouraged her passion because that’s what she wanted, to go higher, further. We are very proud of her. It’s a lot of work, perseverance, sacrifices. It’s a daily questioning. She has an incredible mindset.” Her father added, “I am happy that, as a family, we were able to give her the opportunity to pursue her passion.”

The young dancer took her first steps as a dancer at the Camille Legray school in Rodez. Former teacher, Monique Bultel, shared a message read during the ceremony: “Timéa is a former student of the dance school who marked the minds of everyone from a very young age. Very early on, it was obvious that dance would have an essential place in her life. She already possessed remarkable physical qualities, a deep passion and a desire to dance that would never leave her […] Timéa, this medal today rewards your talent, your journey, your commitment and your determination.”

Stanislas Lipinski, a former principal dancer with the Toulon Opera, now residing in Aveyron, also attended the ceremony. Werzynski-Rames aspires to become a principal dancer herself and hopes to soon enroll in a dance school in Germany.
