Fans of reverse-isekai comedies – where fantasy characters uncover themselves in our world – have a new series to look forward to. An official announcement on Monday confirmed that Ominaeshi’s manga, The Sado Life of Rosé the Witch (Mahoutsukai Rose no Sado Life), is getting an anime adaptation.
The news was unveiled in the April 2026 issue of Manga Time Kirara Forward magazine, which featured the story’s protagonists, Roséstalia and Sana Tsuchiya, on its cover to celebrate the announcement. The author also shared a special illustration on social media to mark the occasion.

About The Sado Life of Rosé the Witch
While a premiere date and studio details are still under wraps, fans will have to wait for further announcements. The production committee has only released the initial confirmation. More information regarding the animation team, voice cast, and release window will be revealed in the coming months.

What’s the Story About?
The story centers on Rosé Staria, a young witch who feels ostracized in her homeland due to her black hair. Determined to start anew and escape the prejudice she faces, she uses her magic to travel to another world, landing in modern-day Japan.
However, her arrival isn’t quite what she expected. Instead of the bustling streets of Tokyo, she finds herself on the peaceful island of Sado, in Niigata Prefecture. Her introduction to our world is anything but magical – she’s immediately attacked by a crested ibis. Fortunately, a local girl named Sana Tsuchiya comes to her rescue. Seeing that Rosé has no money or idea where she is, Sana invites her to live with her. The comedy kicks in when Rosé, after watching television at Sana’s house, believes she’s been transported to the capital city, unaware that she’s actually living on a rural island.
The Manga’s Success
The series began serialization in Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Forward in mid-2022. Its blend of slice-of-life elements and fantasy quickly resonated with readers, earning a nomination in the Comics category at the Next Manga Awards in 2024. The growing popularity of the series highlights the continued appeal of the isekai genre.
Currently, the manga has five compiled volumes in print, with the sixth volume scheduled for release in Japan on March 12.
